Meet Richard, our COO and Co-founder with a passion for the golf course, cooking up a feast in the kitchen, growing Hop into a world-class brand, and finding new ways to make our hop clients' lives even easier.
What do you do at Hop?
As COO I support all areas of the business, primarily sales and marketing. Along with my fellow directors, our focus is to grow and establish the company as a world-class brand, which supports the hospitality industry and helps deliver a better service and product to their guests.
What did you do before you came to Hop?
I have worked in hospitality for 40 years. You name it, I have worked in it within the hospitality sector. I have created and developed hotels and restaurants for the last 20 years.
What projects are you working on?
I am specifically working on HopApp, from a restaurant operational point of view. Continually looking at relationships with partners who will help to grow the business.
What do you love about your job?
The people, growing a business, the challenges, and the diversity.
What's your favourite thing about being part of the Hop team?
The answer is in the question, being part of a team. To create a culture of loving what we do, assist and help hoteliers through our range of products.
Do you have a favourite podcast, book or series?
As a chef and foodie, I love everything to do with food. I love biographies and history from Anton Mossiman, Alex Ferguson to Winnie the Pooh!
What's the best hotel you've ever stayed in?
Gleneagles has a special place in my heart, though I spent a couple of nights in the Austin Motel, which was quirky and fun.
What will we find you doing at the weekend?
On the golf course or in the kitchen, creating a feast!
A quote that inspires you?
"Above all, keep it simple", by Auguste Escoffier. He's one of the greatest chefs and hoteliers, along with Cesar Ritz, established some of the best hotels in the world.
