We steal 10 minutes from our busy Product Manager, Daniel, to find out what his typical day at Hop looks like, his proudest moment, and when he met Annie Lennox.

Briefly describe your typical working day.
A typical day begins with reviewing and prioritising new feature requests that have been raised. This is followed by a meeting with the development team to touch base on what is currently being worked on.

We also share ideas for future projects, research and write up a technical specification for a new feature that has been approved for development. I then meet with a current or potential integration partner.

What do you enjoy most about your job?
Working collaboratively across all teams in the company to achieve our shared goals.

What’s your favourite thing about Hop?
I love that Hop is such a young and vibrant company that is constantly growing and evolving all the time.

What does your workspace look like?
My desk in the office is very tidy, apart from the fact that you can always find a half-finished cup of coffee on it!

What’s been one of your proudest moments working at Hop?
I would say the time I was given the opportunity to go and train one of our new customers onsite. This is not typically something that I would do in my day-to-day role.

However, I was happy to be entrusted with this responsibility after only a few months with the business. Also, it didn’t hurt that the hotel was on the Cornish coast and I was there in the middle of summer!

How do you spend your time when you're not in the office?
I generally make time to see my friends and family, eat out or unwind by watching films or catching up on TV shows.

What inspires you?
I have huge respect for anyone that can play a musical instrument. My mum is a piano teacher, yet I have zero talent in that area!

Fill in the blank: I once met…
Annie Lennox. I went to a record signing in London to get a signed CD as a present for a family member – it took her 6 months to realise that the autograph was genuine and not part of the album cover design!

If you could pick one superpower, what would it be?
Teleportation. I enjoy travelling (and even quite like my commute) but instantaneously transporting from A to B would be amazing.

What is the song title that best describes your personality?
Keeps Gettin’ Better!

Best place you have ever visited in the World?
It would have to be the time when I lived in St Petersburg, Russia.

What are five words (or less) of advice for others in your profession?
Always go the extra mile.
