Getting to know Sharon Smith, Sales & Business Development Director
This November we delve into the life and work of our Sales & Business Development Director, Sharon Smith.
Sharon is primarily based out of our office in Chester, however, before Corona you would normally see her out and about meeting our many clients, spreading the word about our amazing software platform, Hop.
Briefly describe your day at Hop…
I always start with a coffee or 2 to get me functioning. Then I check in with my teams and answer any questions they may have and chat through their tasks. E-mails are constant throughout the day, and I’ll catch up on admin when the need arises. I have calls with clients as well as assisting the sales team to help present to new prospects. Regular catch up calls and when allowed meetings with our strategic partners. Review and sign off any marketing campaigns and ensure we are meeting all our objectives. The to do list is endless!
What’s the best thing about your job at Hop?
No two days are ever the same. Looking after sales, marketing and onboarding give a real variety to my role which I love.
What’s the best thing about working for Hop?
Working with a great bunch of people that always go that extra mile and having a great piece of technology to sell.
What does your workspace look like?
My office desk is always clean and tidy, but my desk at home needs some attention!
What’s been your proudest moment so far working at Hop?
Seeing Hop grow over the past year has been amazing, particularly during the challenges of a global pandemic. My proudest moment, however, would be selling our PMS to our first oversees client in Canada. They had a collection of amazing properties and a lovely team to work with too.
What do you like to do when you’re not at the office?
My Cockapoo, Alfie keeps me on my toes, so if I am not working you will usually find me in the Cheshire countryside on a very long walk. The rest of the time I spend with family and friends, brushing up on my baking skills mixed in with a bit of wine tasting!
What inspires you the most?
Ambition, drive and determination. Can do attitude and desire to succeed.
Fill in the blank: I once met…
Will Carling whist he was playing for Harlequins Rugby Club and was naked in the bath after the match. I honestly didn’t know where to look!
If you could pick one superpower, what would it be?
To be invisible so I can spy on my teenage daughter, actually not sure I really want to know!
What song title best describes your personality?
It would have to be ‘Don’t Stop Moving’ by S Club 7, as I never really sit still!
Best place you have ever travelled?
I have been lucky enough to visit some wonderful places, but it would have to be Tallinn in Estonia, it’s a beautiful city and the square is a great place to people watch.
In five words (or less) what advice would you give to others in your profession?
Never give up!
