Getting to know Daniel Lawrence, Support Team
A whole month has flown by and this time it’s the turn of Daniel from our support team for the October edition of our Employee Spotlight.
Daniel is based out of our office in Chester and there is nothing he doesn’t know about Hop. He works hard to ensure our customers continue to receive the highest level of support after they have left the hands of our onboarding team.
Briefly describe your day at Hop…
As you will find out later my day starts off with a coffee, not that I ever get the chance to finish it! After which I start reviewing any new and updated tickets on the Helpdesk and then check my email for anything pressing or urgent. I spend the remainder of the day responding to tickets, phone calls and live chats as well as liaising with our development team and external partners, such as Expedia or Tevalis to ensure our system is running as smoothly as possible for our clients.
What’s the best thing about your job at Hop?
No two days are the same.
What’s the best thing about working for Hop?
I love the fact that HOP is such a young, vibrant company that is constantly growing and changing all the time.
What does your workspace look like?
My desk in the office is very tidy, apart from the fact that you can always find a half-finished cup of coffee on it. My home workspace, on the other hand, is far less organised…
What’s been your proudest moment so far working at Hop?
I would say the time I was given the opportunity to go and provide on-site training for one of our new clients. This is not normally something we get the opportunity to take part in within the support team. However, this is why I love Hop, they give you the opportunity and responsibility to grow and learn new skills within a short space of time. It didn’t hurt either that the hotel was on the beautiful Cornish coast and I was there in the height of Summer, perks of the job!
What do you like to do when you’re not at the office?
I’m a very social person and out of work I like to relax as much as possible, seeing friends and family, eating out, watching films and catching up on any new television dramas.
What inspires you the most?
I have a huge respect for anyone that can play a musical instrument. My mum is a piano teacher and I love to hear her play, unfortunately that gene didn’t get passed on, as I have zero talent in that area and some would say I am tone death.
Fill in the blank: I once met…
Annie Lennox, I would love to say I just randomly bumped into her on the street, but I actually went to a record signing in London to get a signed copy of her CD at the time as a present for a family member, it only took them 6 months to realise that the autograph was actually real and not part of the album cover design!
If you could pick one superpower, what would it be?
100%, teleportation, I love to travel, I would even go as far as saying I quite like my commute, but instantaneously getting from A to B would be amazing.
What song title best describes your personality?
Keeps Gettin’ Better by Christian Aguilera
Best place you have ever travelled?
I’m a big fan of Europe and to date I would have to say St Petersburg, Russia. I lived there for a while and the place is so diverse with some of the best architecture Europe has to offer.
In five words (or less) what advice would you give to others in your profession?
Keep learning and progressing.
