HOP sat down with Lorna Gibson from Costley & Costley Hoteliers - a group of seven beautiful properties and HOP's newest client. We found out more about the Scottish hotel group and why they chose HOP as their property management system.
1. Can you please introduce yourself and what you do?
I am the Strategic Development Director for Costley & Costley Hoteliers Ltd. My role is a new role to the company this year and my specific remit is business improvement and growth including responsibility for business development and marketing. Since joining Costley & Costley at the beginning of 2018 I have been reviewing current processes and working practices and managing a strategic change programme to increase efficiencies and implement improvements.
2. Tell us about where you work and what makes Costley Hotels special?
I am very fortunate to be based at Lochgreen House Hotel and Spa which is located near Troon on the Ayrshire Coast. This is a beautiful country house hotel set in 30 acres of wonderful gardens and with spectacular views over Royal Troon Golf Course and the Ayrshire Coast. The Costley & Costley Hotel group own 4 hotels and two Inns, all within Ayrshire. Each property is unique and has different offerings, from fine dining and spa breaks at Lochgreen House, weddings and functions at Brig o’Doon House to exceptional dining and views at Highgrove House and our famous Lobster Menu at Souters Inn, we have something for everyone but all with the same exceptional, high quality of customer service and dining.
3. How many systems do you and the team use to manage revenue and the properties?
Currently only Lochgreen House Hotel & Spa, the largest of our properties, has a PMS and this is Mainstay. Our other properties all use manual systems for bookings. We are currently upgrading all our EPOS systems and our accounting software as well as introducing ResDiary.
4. What is it that attracted you to HOP in the first place?
We were attracted to HOP as it has been developed by people in the hospitality industry for people in the hospitality industry so is tailored to meet all our needs. The simplicity of the system was also attractive to us, it gives us what we need without confusing us with additional functions that we would not use.
The fact that it can integrate with each of the other systems we are introducing, Sharp EPOS, Twinfield, ResDiary and create an efficient flow of information was also very important to us.
